Meet Our KidsThe Building Blocks for Kids Adopt-A-Child program allows our donors to specify to which child they want 100% of their donation to be applied. Donations can be made by sending a check to BB4K at the address listed at the bottom of this page or by clicking on the child's name in the blue box to the right of this page which will take you directly to that child's online donation page. Here are a few of the children currently waiting for assistance. In addition, by clicking here, you can browse through the entire list of children who are currently in our Adopt-A-Child Program, including the child's challenge and the details of his/her request.
TAYLOR Challenge: Fifteen year old Taylor has been identified with an educationally and communicatively significant, sensorineural hearing loss in both ears which impairs her ability to hear consonants in everyday speech. Therefore, she misses most of what is being said to her. Her hearing loss is complicated as she hears normally at very low and very high frequencies but not in the middle range. This is called U-shaped Hearing Loss.Request: Her current form of amplification (which is broken) requires the use of an earmold and when used, it blocks her hearing in the low frequencies. Her request is for binaural hearing aids. ($2640)
Taylor's Note: Taylor sent her own note with the application. It reads, “I like to read and write and my dream is to become an author. I’ll do whatever it takes to succeed and I don’t want anything getting in my way. With your help, my dream can be true. Thanks ~ Taylor”
![]() BLAKE
Challenge: Ten year old, Blake has the diagnosis of Quadriplegic Spastic Cerebral Palsy. He is delayed in all areas ~ he doesn’t walk, talk, or play like other kids. He is in a wheelchair and requires therapy services to improve his motor skills.
Request: Blake would benefit from an intensive therapy program and his doctor and parents think that Intensive Therasuit Therapy through Leap Beyond Therapy would best benefit him as it has so many others. The cost is $5500 and Leap Beyond is giving BB4K a discount. ($4950)
MAYAChallenge: Four year old Maya was diagnosed soon after birth with hearing loss. She was placed in hearing aids at the age of 9 months and has been wearing them since then. She not only would benefit from new hearing aids but also from an FM System which allows her to better hear her friends, parents, and teachers at home, in school, and in public places.
Request: Maya’s request is for new hearing aids and an FM System to help her not only hear and interact at home and school, but also will help her to improve her speech. ($2625)
