Six-year-old Emerson is a happy little guy who LOVES people, dogs, and playing!  He has learned to walk, knows some sign language and has started to use an ipad for communication.  He is full of joy and brightens the days of everyone he meets.  He plays baseball in the Joe Knuxhall Miracle League and absolutely loves going to Kings Island and riding the biggest rides he is allowed to get on.

Emerson has struggled since birth with failure to thrive and was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome when he was 19 months old.  He is globally delayed, nonverbal and struggles with stability, behavioral issues, seizures, and more.

A therapy dog would change Emerson's life in so many ways, from helping him physically with support/stability and standing up, to emotionally by helping him self soothe and ease anxiety due to change in environments.  The dog would also allow him to establish some level of independence as he gets older and bigger.

ABOUT Meet a Need

Building Blocks for Kids supports children and families who live with disabilities in a wide variety of ways.  One of those ways is through our Meet A Need Medical Scholarship Program.  This program allows us to meet individual needs, one child at a time.
